Human Habitats is a national Town Planning, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture firm.

Since 2013, HH has been quietly establishing itself in the industry as a leading firm, and now has a progressive team of 31 employees across Australia.

As part of our growth strategy, our Planning Team is looking for Town Planners of all levels to join our team.

Our ideal candidates will be a creative, hard-working individuals with excellent communication and teamwork abilities. You must have a passion for quality and you will be committed to innovative and intelligent consultation with key stakeholders on projects that challenge and inspire our clients.

As a member of our team, you will:

Our roles are suited to someone with 2-10+ years of post-graduate Urban Planning experience in private practice who possesses the following competencies:

  • Strong conceptual thinking
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including producing well-written and incisive reports;
  • The ability to demonstrate effectiveness and a strong commitment to working in a team; setting and delivering high-quality client service and technical competence.

Technical responsibilities:

  • Provide professional planning advice and services to land owners including site analysis, feasibility studies, and project assessments
  • Liaise with government bodies and other stakeholders to ensure that the development proposals are aligned with the planning scheme
  • Prepare and submit planning proposals and development applications and manage the application process through to approval.
  • Prepare and present planning reports and recommendations to land owners, key stakeholders, and attend meetings and public hearings as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of development proposals on the local community, and recommend mitigation measures as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and support to other members of the development team, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to ensure that planning considerations are integrated into project design and implementation.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in planning laws and regulations, and contribute to the development of planning policies and guidelines for the company.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related discipline
  • Demonstrated understanding of VIC planning policies and legislation, or a willingness to learn if your experience is from interstate or overseas
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
